Who I Am
Nikolai Sandbeck | Software Developer and Linguist
My journey into software development started when, as a linguist, I discovered how coding could solve real-life problems extremely fast and accurately. Tasks took weeks before could now be done in seconds. I became hooked on coding and, after a while, decided I wanted to be a developer. This transition happened at TELUS Digital, where I was in charge of creating dev tools; later, I became a web developer at Rødovre Municipality.
Digital sovereignty is something I have come to believe in strongly, and thus I learned how to set up my own server from scratch without american proprietary software. This mean I did it all with either Open Source or European software, and it convinced me we can indeed compete with the USA if we want to.
This website is about that project, the technologies we can use, and the services we can run today to get back the control of our data.
